While some of these writers were from Trabzon born and bred, some were born in Trabzon but lived abroad. Also there are some who were originally from Trabzon but born in another city, or not from Trabzon but deciding to settle there as a citizen. Apart from these, no criterion is sought in the selection of these authors, and anybody writing any poetic or prosaic works is included in this research. In this respect, it is possible to see collectively the works of Trabzonian writers that are found in the sources. Some of the works found in official libraries or in personal libraries are brought to light even if the names of them have never been mentioned before in any sources. Also in this way, these writers are introduced to the readers and their studies are offered for the benefit of the researchers. Therefore, it is drawn attention to the works which are passed on to us from our ancestors and which have historical, literary, scientific and religious values. Thus, it is aimed that the new generation would be aware of this cultural heritage and it is tried to be explained that this precious treasure which is a reminder of our ancestors should be protected collectively.
