Summary/Abstract: The paper looks at the selected issues related to defence policy of France. Particular attention is given to the parliament’s role. The author introduces competences of the National Assembly in terms of security and defence policy, including the decision on intervention of French armed forces in foreign operations, monitoring of the orientations of the White Paper and policy regarding bilateral defence agreements.
