Summary/Abstract: In the article the role of cultural studies of the leading Ukrainian scientists of the late XIX – early XX century in the revival and strengthening of national identity and national self-identification experience are outlined. The impact of these theoretical developments in social and political life of Ukraine at the end of the twentieth century is traced, especially, development of the Ukrainian culture and Ukrainian studies as a system of knowledge.
