Summary/Abstract: Since fluorescence was discovered it has been more commonly used than other forms of marking, especially as production prices of such products have fallen. Fluorescence plaques are used in areas of upmost importance for public safety. These are most often road signs, car and evacuation route markers. The quality of such signs is crucial, since they are used in life-threatening situations. Reliably testing the quality of such products requires the use of bispectral measurements. Direct measurement of phosphorescing samples is burdened with errors resulting from the emission of light rays scattered by the sample. This article presents examples of quality tests for evacuation sign fluorescence, using bispectral measurements in 0–45° geometry. These measurements significantly reduce errors in comparison to classic methods for measuring colour.
