Summary/Abstract: The article examines the problem of space production in a modern city. Symbolic constructing/imaging of places is analyzed using several cases of the City of Moscow. The practical means of construction and the problem of local identity are in the focus of the study, along with the question to what extent are such places «artificial» or «natural».
