Summary/Abstract: Sports is an important element of socio-economic development of an country. Sports is now regarded as an aspect of the social world created by people interacting with each other under social, political and economic conditions existing in societies. Execution of mega sport organizations helps to improve infrastructure, creates jobs, provides secure entry of foreign capital, creates new sportsmen and contributes significantly to the country's economic development. In the field literature, large scale sports events are defined by different concepts such as "Hallmark", "Mega", "Major". It is impossible for the economy and the city or country where such organizations to be organized to be thought apart from each other. Mega sporting events are organizations where there is international participation but the city or country in which the organization is organized changes at each event such as the World Cup or the Olympic Games. Mega events are defined as '' activities that take place in a short time, but especially long-term economic effects ''. Mega sport events provide economic returns to the city or country in which it is organized, in terms of increasing international fame, increasing number of tourists and the long-term sociological and economic benefits associated with them, as well as the dramatic development and even renewal of the city's urban infrastructure. For this reason, while the candidacy process to host Mega events is also quite complex and costly, there are also occasional political maneuvers and contests. Mega sporting events as contribute to the country's economy and sometimes create some challenges that force the economies. As in the case of Athens Olympics, the loss of $ 14.5 billion caused economic devastation. For this reason, organizations countries should seriously plan ahead for Mega organizations when they are willing to economically encounter problems. There is an intense effort and desire to organize Mega organizations intensively in our country as well. The aim of this study is to inform our country which is willing to host mega sport events the economic advantages and disadvantages of such organizations by evaluating the economic effects of the mega sport events that have been done before.
