Summary/Abstract: The article explores the influence of the Ukrainian folklore traditions and folk puppet theater to upgrade expressive possibilities professional puppet theater in Ukraine the last quarter of the twentieth century. It is noted that these traditions were serious alternative to the realistic style in art of the Ukrainian puppet theater in that period and led to the creation of more complex imagery systems.
