Summary/Abstract: Under Article XXV of the Berlin Treaty, Austria-Hungary was granted the right to occupy Bosnia and Herzegovina and Novi Pazar sandžak. The Bosniaks were welcomed with great disturbance of the possible occupation, which grew into a strong resistance. The fighting lasted from July 29 to October 20, 1878. In the resistance against the occupying forces, some 3,000 to 4,000 Sanjaks participated, led by Muhammad Nurudin Šemsekadić, the Muhammad of Muhammad. The population of the Novi Pazar Sanjak was accompanied by fighting in Bosnia and Herzegovina with great disturbance and preparations for resistance if the occupying forces penetrated from Bosnia into this area. It was also expected that the support of the Albanians who formed their Prizren league on June 10, 1878. Negotiations between the Austro-Hungarian and Turkish representatives ended with the signing of the Istanbul Convention on April 21, 1879. In September 1879, the occupation units occupied Priboj, Pljevlja and Prijepolje. No resistance was offered to them, because the determination to fight was getting weaker. Everything was mostly reduced to anxiety and agitation.
