Summary/Abstract: The problem of organized crime, which has by now become transnational in nature, concerns numerous branches of science. The present paper endeavours to approach the topic from the aspect of substantive law, providing an overview of changes in statutory regulation concerning the notion of criminal organization and the relevant legal institutions. The paper deals with the substantive legal consequences attached to perpetration within the framework of a criminal organization and the practical problems raised by the definition of the term.
