Summary/Abstract: Specific natural and cultural-historical features of a place integrate values of a cultural landscape, as a form of cultural heritage and culture of memories, which all contribute to more quality use of space and create new values of social and economic capital. An example of positive practice of conceptualisation and implementation of cultural landscape of a coastal town of Kotor in Montenegro (August 2017) crucially influences promoting the heritage, based on community, social inclusion and culture vitality. Leaders of the local community, representatives of various political affiliations have created a model of effective management from the position of citizens, but also tourists’ interests, for the best benefit of the town. Clear guidelines in local policy, with dedicated professional work and support from important stakeholders (schools, touristic and cultural organisations, NGO sector, office for youth) have regain the reputation of Kotor as an important centre of the South Adriatic seaside centre, through numerous artistic programmes, decorating the town and caring for its citizens. This can be a model to other local leaders so as to reduce devastation of the ambience, which has augmented in transition and in times of financial crisis, fall in living standards and mass impoverishment. In order to put the concept of improvement of cultural landscape into life in practice, it is necessary to set strategically the guidelines of sustainability, continuously acting, caring, and having more effective efforts from competent and dedicated people, before even starting to create the strategy of sustainable economic development of cultural landscape.
