DEVELOPING DIGITAL LITERACIES THROUGH CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Summary/Abstract: Digital technologies have much to offer education and to enable learners to interact with rich multimedia, and to communicate and collaborate. This paper argues that to harness the potential of digital technologies for learning new digital literacies skills are needed. To support teachers in the development of these literacies new and innovative forms of Continuing Professional Development are needed. The paper concludes with a description of the 7Cs of Learning Design framework, which aims to help teachers make more pedagogically informed design decisions that make appropriate use of digital technologies.
