Summary/Abstract: The role of toys has changed over past millenniums even though play and toys represent the phenomenon as old as entire civilization. Their meaning, functions, symbolism and values have changed from extremely positive to extremely negative connotations, remembered in collective memory of mankind which includes both idillyc and tragic periods. It seems that оur time belongs to the second period. We are on the edge of abyss. Toys which are offered to the youngest generations mark one part of the road that leads us to the abyss. The question is: Why?
