The reminder of the dictionaries by Bartłomiej z Bydgoszczy from 1532 and 1544

Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article is reminding the readers of the 16th century Latin-Polish dictionaries by Bartłomiej z Bydgoszczy. The interest in the lexicons increased in the 1970s, when the manuscript from 1532, believed to be lost after the World War II, was found, and unexpectedly the dictionary from 1544 was discovered. The article briefly portraits the monk, outlines the fortunes of his works, and presents their construction and content. Moreover, the editions of the dictionaries published to date are described (Bolesław Erzepki’s edition and the new, joint edition in the Polish-Latin version). The attempts are also discussed undertaken in the 20th and 21th centuries to propagate the lexical material of the dictionaries.
