Modernisms and Their Lots

Summary/Abstract: The article is an attempt at mapping the changes that have been taking place in the studies of modernism and modernity since half 1990s. The contemporary return of modernity after postmodernism shakes the earlier notions of their duality, while also compelling us to reconsider the mutual relations of modernism and popular culture, as Andreas Huyssen was the first to observe. Moreover, it makes an opportunity to understand better the different discursive contexts that separate the American, French and German discussionons of modernity.
