Summary/Abstract: The goal of the article is to analyze the international position of the Russian Federation in the second decade of the 21st century. In the opening part, the ideological foundations of Russia’s policy have been characterized, which are crucial for the interpretation of its activity in the international arena, especially regarding phenomena affecting the positioning of the Crimea annexation and involvement in the conflict in eastern Ukraine and the Syrian war. Emphasizing the importance of ideology in the political line created by Vladimir Putin, the author analyzes Russian actions in Syria and Ukraine, trying to incorporate them into the most important assumptions of the policy of the Russian Federation. Finally, the author undertook to indicate the negative and positive aspects of this activity for Russia’s position in international relations.
