Summary/Abstract: Branislav Nušić found his inspiration for the comedy Narodni poslanik (1883) in the social reality of the time, which he portrayed in a realistic and humorous-satirical way. By pointing to life truths, moral and social perversions of the time and the climate in which he wrote, Nušić contributed to the moral maturity and disillusions of the readership, thus inspiring the critical view of the social phenomena under scrutiny. The currency of the topic and the interesting way in which the comedy was shaped inspire people to think and arouse the interest of modern readers as well.
