Summary/Abstract: The present essay addresses the issue of the participation of Catholic priests in the shaping of Polish literature. The author discusses some aspects of the changes Polish poetry experienced after, respectively, the first and the second world wars. Against this background, he points to the metaphysical nature of contemporary Polish poetry, most clearly visible in the output of poet-priests, and extensively discusses the poems by Fr. Kazimierz Wójtowicz.
