Between Enthusiasm and Pragmatism. Knowledge of Europe in Economic Aspect in Liberated Bulgaria

Summary/Abstract: This research analyses articles in economics about Europe as a whole and about separate European countries on the Europeans’ role and behaviour in Bulgaria as a result of the regulated and activated economic contacts with the foreign world. It maps the sources of knowledge and the major motives in the created intellectual construct conditionally called European economic discourse. The article touches upon its function of self-reflection, which logically corresponds to the problem about the ways and means used for Bulgaria’s economic improvement as an irrevocable precondition for prosperity and national independence.
