Summary/Abstract: The article presents the differences within the process of forming the structure of financing sources among small, medium and large enterprises. In the course of the studies 97 471 financial statements of companies conducting business in 12 different sectors of Polish economy have been included. In order to confirm the diversity of the capital structure, depending on the size of the company, Kruskal-Wallis nonparametric test was applied. The study has proven that in majority of cases Polish micro and small enterprises finance their assets with their own equity and less frequently use for this purpose short or long-term outside funds unlike medium and large enterprises The obtained test results also indicate a significant impact of the specific nature of economic activity on the structure of financing sources of business entities in Poland.
