Summary/Abstract: The aim of the study is to characterize the start-up survival rate in Poland in the years 2003-2014 with particular regard to the sources of financing start-up phase of enterprise establishment. Empirical studies were based on Central Statistical Office data published in the study <em>Creation and operation conditions, development prospects of Polis enterprises</em>. We analyzed the number and survival rate of established enterprises, the structure of established and active enterprises by way of creation and selected groupings, and by sources of financing the undertaken activity. The results confirm that the survival rate of start-ups is increasing. The main source of financing undertaken business is equity. The use of external sources of financing have a little relevance in the financing structure of established enterprises.
