Summary/Abstract: The goal of the work was to identify the causes of protests of local communities against investments in wind power, unparalleled in other situations. To that end, the work analysed the case of a planned wind farm in the commune of Krzywin, an investment successfully blocked by the local community. Moreover, based on the example of a wind farm in Tymień (West Pomerania Province), the work determined a possibility of the farm’s operation under conditions regulated by the act on investments in wind energy. It was concluded that in Wielkopolska Province a positive attitude to energy from renewable sources prevailed. However, plans of locating wind turbines within a distance shorter than 450 m caused strong opposition of the inhabitants. A socially accepted distance of a wind turbine from buildings was at least 1 km. In the case of the Tymien Wind Farm none of the 25 locations of wind turbines complies with the act on investments in wind energy.
