Summary/Abstract: In 2005, the United Nations reported that there are 115 million children across the world, the majority of whom are girls, that do not receive primary education. The education of children is a requirement and a right. It is needed for their personal development and for them to support themselves and their families in modern society. The fact that the United Nations’ second Millennium Development Goal is to ensure that all children receive primary education by 2015 is testimony to the importance of education.
