Summary/Abstract: In our global world, the distance and the interval seem to becancelled due to the spectacular development of the high technologyin the field of communication. Hence this perception of theintercultural as something already acquired, as a solution to allissues raised by strangeness. Yet, paradoxically, this permanentcomings and goings, instead of favouring the homogenisation ofvalues, casts doubt on the very concept of cultural unity which is, forexample, at the root of the European Union construction. What is the role of language teacher’s role in this interculturalcontext? Can he be a mediator between different cultures or is itbetter that he guide his learners towards the perception of thestrangeness as an in-between space, a space where the prefix interrefers not only to the link, reciprocity, exchange but also to theseparation and disjunction? These are the questions this article intends to provide an answeramong others.
