Albertus Magnus and Thomas Aquinas on the Freedom of Human Action

Summary/Abstract: In this article, I compare two theories of human action and its freedom, that of Albertus Magnus (ca. 1200-1280) and that of his famous student, Thomas Aquinas (1224-1274). I argue that although Aristotle is a major influence upon the character of Aquinas' theory, one cannot discount entirely Albert 's influence upon this aspect of Aquinas' thought.
