Summary/Abstract: The paper examines the justification of criticism that Hermann Schmitz, the protagonist of new phenomenology, addresses to the phenomenology of Edmund Husserl. Starting from the depiction of the central theories of Husserl’s theory of categorical view (kategoriale Anschauung) and Schmitz’s phenomenology of corporeality (Leiblichkeit), the question of the possibility and role of transcendental philosophical approach in the context of phenomenology will be at the centre of discussion. In the view of Schmitz’s criticism of alleged Husserl’s representationalism, and the elimination of immediacy of the physical experience from the phenomenological debate, the paper argues that Husserl’s phenomenology of consciousness makes a significant departure from the constructivist philosophy of Kantian provenance consciousness.
