Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to research crematonyms in the Mostar town area. Crematonyms are the youngest category within onomastics. Within the relevant onomastic literature term crematonym does not have a clear connotation, nor classification. We can conclude that crematonyms are personal names that are a product of human activity. Thereby they are given a language, onomastic, sociolinguistic, and historical function. The paper puts an emphasis on the street nomenclature. The paper examines the naming motivation and special emphasis is placed on the renaming of the streets. Contemporary names of the streets within the Mostar town are cited such as: Dubrovnik Street, Franciscan Street, Fr. Didak Buntić Street, Knez Domagoj Street, Dr. Mile Budak Street, Mijat Tomić Street, etc. Other crematonym categories like the names of cultural institutions, competitions and similar are also described.
