Summary/Abstract: The paper is an attempt at presenting and evaluating the dark tourist assets of the “Dziekanka” hospital in Gniezno, implied by murders of mentally ill patients committed during the Nazi occupation. By stressing the relationships between cognitive values and commemorative forms, the first part of the paper explains the perception of psychiatric hospitals covered by the so-called pseudo-euthanasia, as objects of dark tourism. The second part shows the issues and facts related to the crimes committed on the patients of “Dziekanka” (Tiegenhof). The third part hereof is an attempt at evaluating the dark tourist attractions of the facility which has been operational to date and at pinpointing the issues of significance in this aspect.
