Summary/Abstract: Since the moment a human being is born, thanks to the genetic code it obtains a male or a female sex. However, despite of unambiguous differences as far as biological sex is concerned its cultural aspect is no longer that obvious for contemporary researchers. The fact that we are not born as a hermaphrodite or sexless human figure allows us to assume that a dualism noticeable with regard to biological sex has its consequences in individual differences related to e.g. traits of character. We ought to try to understand the idea of masculinity and femininity, with regard to sex perceived as a broaden concept than the one appearing in jokes or social allusions. Its consequences are noticeable in the way children are being brought up, in various relations between a man and a woman, or even in legal decisions.
