Summary/Abstract: This work shall discuss poetic images expressing the depth of the Divine mercy, which were – as John Paul II put it – “released by human genius”. They are known to affect imagination and appeal to emotions in the strongest way. Words appropriately arranged may be perceived on the level of aesthetic impressions and, therefore, invite to intellectual research. I shall refer to the theological thought of Rev. Michał Sopoćko, which constitutes an inspiring completion and highlighting of the poetic vision of the author of the Roman Triptyc poem. Even though the very notion of mercy is not directly adduced by John Paul II in the said poem, yet it constitutes somehow an instinctive body both for thought and spiritual message of the poem. The three parts of the triptych concentrate thus around the theological issues relating to the occurrence of this perfection in the deeds of the Creator.
