Summary/Abstract: Maria Dąbrowska is, if not the greatest, then certainly one of the greatest contemporary writers in Poland. In Polish literature there had been a well-established a well-established tradition of art serving the national „cause”. The young Dąbrowska follows this tradition both in her social and professional activity and in her literary works in which she tries to promote progress, education, cooperation, faith in the future, faith in humanity. M. Dąbrowska was not only a writer but also the author of the diary. She wrote a diary from 1914 to 1965. This article is about the image of the First World War in the pages of her diary.
