Summary/Abstract: Presents the evolution of the Brukenthal museum in Hermannstadt (Sibiu) in the 18th and 19th century with the most important investigations and renovations of the paintings. A special attention is given to the contribution to the research of the paintings by three important art critics who vistited the museum in 1901/02: Abraham Bredius from The Hague, Cornelis Hofstede de Groot from Amsterdam and Karl Voll from Munich. An appendix includes the publication of contemporary comments of the mentioned specialists.
