Summary/Abstract: The article consists of three parts. First, the essence of supply chain management is provided. Second, VMI is described. Third, the structure of pharmaceutical supply chain is accommodated. Finally, the case study of VMI implementation is provided. The author, using a case study, shows that supply chain integration is materialized through logistic service rendered by a producer to a distributor. The service embraces improvement of material and information flow within supply chain as well as centralizing inventory replenishment decision. The presented case study proves that the main competence of supply chain integrator is the ability to divide value chain activities among supply chain partners, identify improvement potential and eventually render services that improve supply chain effectiveness and efficiency.
