Eco-efficiency in development and advancement of organization

Summary/Abstract: The paper presents the eco-efficiency concept and a proposal for its implementation for assessing investment projects covering both the modernisation of manufacturing processes and new, environmentally friendly technology solutions. The Life Cycle Assessment techniques were proposed for the calculation of environmental effect, whereas Net Present Value (NPV) for economic one. The combination of these effects could be a base for ecoefficiency calculation. It can be applied to conduct structured and continuous action to prevent and systematically reduce the pollution and to improve the environmental management system in accordance with the requirements of ISO 14001, applying the PDCA approach − plan, do, check, act. It can also be complementary to existing procedures for conducting environmental assessments and may be used in evaluating and selecting projects supported from appropriated funds (i.e. Structural Fund).
