Summary/Abstract: The United States has never had a state religion; however, it is impossible to say that America is, or ever was, a Godless country. The existence and acceptance of various faiths has resulted in the establishment of an all-encompassing civil religion. This study examines the phenomenon of faith as a political issue – in the sense that a decisive majority of Americans share the same or similar values, which are based on spirituality and the belief in God.
