Summary/Abstract: Purpose – The main purpose of this article is to present the literature and the results of studies of the art market in Poland in recent years. Design/methodology/approach – Research area require in-depth literary studies and analysis of available statistical data. Analyzes were performed involving the recognition of the structure, status and development direction of Polish art and its components in order to create the conditions for further market development forecasts. Findings –There is growing interest in the financial aspects of acquiring works of art. Investors are increasingly aware of the perceived artwork as assets. Originality/value –The good results of both the Polish and global art market over the past few years coincided with a significant increase in wealthy citizens. Indicator High Net Worth Individual in the world currently estimated at 11 million. This is a significant increase of 51% over the 2000 result.
