Summary/Abstract: The article presents a discusssion of some Hungarian loan words in Polish. The emphasis is put on the role played by the Hungarian language in the transmission of Oriental words into Polish and Carpathian languages. It is also stressed that there needs to be a cooperation between etymologists of various philologies and language areals to show the wanderwörter against the broadest linguistic background possible.
