Summary/Abstract: Migration, as an intercultural vector has accompanied the European construction supporting a number of strategic approaches in basic areas to consolidate the Community support. Even though, in spite of some positive developments, the European policies on migration are still overwhelmed by national policies or the Community' strategic approaches. In this respect, the ambivalence and paradoxes of the European policies are serious matters to be analysed in the context of European migration but also as vulnerabilities of the European Social Model. The investigation herein tries to stress these ambiguities that affect finally the positive European approach on migration.
