Summary/Abstract: The paper analyzes the manner in which around 1919 Jonas Jablonskis corrected Vaizgantas’ Augstaiciu vaizdeliai (The Scenes of Aukstaiciai) that had been collected in 1914 but had not been published (the page proof is kept at the Vilnius University Library Manuscript Department, sign.: f. 1 - D 394). Analysis allows specifying the chronology of some of Jablonskis’ corrections. For example, it is obvious that already around 1919 he started correcting the words by, bliudas, išmetineti, neužilgo, and the short forms of verbs and participles without <i> (e.g.: rodes, išvydus). Jablonskis’ fairly complicated approach to dialectal words used by Vaizgantas becomes clear. One of the key principles for changing words in the page proof was to avoid words of other dialects for the works of Vaizgantas who was from east Aukstaitija. On the other hand, Jablonskis resolutely corrects the prefix in- common to the people of east Aukstaitija. Furthermore, it is unusual for Jablonskis to leave without correction such Slavisms as nabagele, pasažirius, vagzalas and other, as well as some translated constructions (e.g.: ant pat sumos benuvažiuosime).
