Archaeological supervisions in the old town of Wielun between 1998 and 2001

Summary/Abstract: Archaeological supervisions is type of research conducted by the way of construction projects. Till now such activity was neglected in Wielun. In this article you can find description of progress in pioneering work of this kind of research guided by author between 1998 and 2001, by the way of 6 investment. This explorations took place: At the Legions’ Square – where once was the old town hall; – On Sienkiewicz’s Street – fairly important street of the old town; – On „New Market” – where once stood the gate called „Dabrowska Gate” – On few more places in the area of former moat, shaft and defensive wall. Thank to supervisions many of valuable information of Wielun’s past was gathered. Basing on the result of research was made a few hypothesis, which allow to schedule full archaeological survey.
