Summary/Abstract: Exorbitant indebtedness, the slow lowering of an "iron curtain", alarming news from our southern neighbor made one sit up and take notice. But the fear that Yugoslavia could instantly become a second Poland is unfounded: both the economic and the political system contain too many elements of pluralism to permit such a development.
