Summary/Abstract: As the Hungarian sports, the sports journalism starts in Hungary between the firsts in Europe.From 1857 until the outbreak of World War I there appeared many sports-themed magazines that have played an important role in contemporary Hungarian sport popularization. Editors were athletes or sports specialists who carried the soul if popularizing the sport. Their publications are today an inexhaustible source for historians of sport.
