Summary/Abstract: In the first half of the nineteenth century the political press was under (Austrian) prohibition, a severe censorship of Metternich so in those circumstances the literary reviews/magazines had more opportunities to emerge. During the 1830s due to some qualitative improvements the press became a significant institution as part of the Hungarian culture.Literary magazines can be defined as cultural print media products with colorful and diversified topic, important documents of the changing approaches and styles in the reform era. Along with the literary column and fashion illustrations, entertaining stories, travels, curiosities, adventures of famous men and women, wise sayings filled out these magazines with the purpose of promoting life in the midst of society and supplying the more certain information for readers.
