SUSTAINABLE FINANCING SOLUTIONS FOR THE ROMANIAN HEALTH SYSTEM

Summary/Abstract: In Romania, like in many others developing countries, health care system is facing some major challenges, such as population ageing, technological progress, doctor migration, soaring health care costs, pandemics, and diseases determined by the life style. In these circumstances, finding additional financial resources and the efficient use of current scarce resources should represent major concerns for any decision maker from the Romanian health system. The aim of the paper is to assess the financing needs of the Romanian health systems and to recommend sustainable financing solutions aimed to ensure access to health services to all citizens.
