Summary/Abstract: Mongolian word formation and Mongolian color names are considered a neglected field of study in Mongolistic literature. The aim of this paper is to find out if there is an affinity between certain lexical groups and specific word-forming suffixes. In order to answer this question, the author collected material on Mongolian word formation connected with color names. Of the 108 suffixes examined, 49 are used with color names and other lexical groups, and 59 are restricted to color names, that is, they show special affinity to a specific lexical group, namely, to color names.
