Summary/Abstract: Happy kids running around, cabs around the statue of King Mathias in Cluj, oxcart in front of the city hall – moving images that we couldn’t see without Orbán Lajos, amateur filmmaker born in 1906, but hidden in the rarely transmitted blocks of old newsreels. The aim of my thesis is to present a field of the silent film industry that was not analyzed before: the film-life after the golden era in Cluj. The research material was provided by the Orbán family – amateur filmmakers living in Cluj.
