Summary/Abstract: This paper focuses on the problem of Kalakuts' national revindication in the Lublin region. Chelm-Podlasie converts to the Roman Catholic religion (Ukase of Tolerance from 1905) were refered to as Kalakuts. Initially Kalakuts' community kept the traditional Ruthenian traditions in the form of language and material culture. However, the feeling of national identity was gradually evolving towards the Polish option. Ukrainians were trying to neutralize this process during the First and Second World War, however, because of the Ukrainian movement's weakness in these areas, Polish counteraction, as well as due to the impact of unfavorable external factors; Kalakuts' national revindication didn't bring positive results.
