Summary/Abstract: Nowadays, violence is a matter of great concern in many countries. We can take control over this phenomenon only by being aware of its causes, origins, forms of manifestation and ways of prevention. The question of violence in schools may and has to become subject for the reflection of all the actors involved in the educational system, as schools dispose of important resources in order to make up programmes for violence prevention. The current study was realized in 47 schools from Sibiu County, on 6489 pupils, by a project team who benefited of the involvement of 41 psychologists, between September 2008 and May 2009. The purpose of the questionnaire inquiry was to poll the pupils’ opinion regarding the significance of the term ‘violence’, its forms of manifestation within and nearby the school premises, the extent to which pupils have witnessed or actively participated in violent scenes and their response within the conflict situations. This paper consists of a theoretical frame, a presentation of the research methodology, as well as the results presentation and conclusions of the research. The paper helps with discovering more efficient strategies of fighting this phenomenon.
