Logistics and waste management in cities

Summary/Abstract: Contemporary cities are increasingly becoming the engines of socio-economic development.Increasing human activity stimulates a number of new “activities“ of a city as part of itsfunctions, which – in turn – repeatedly creates many problems that require fast and comprehensivesolutions guaranteeing smooth functioning of a city as a system. One of such important problemareas is waste management. Economic growth should not be at the expense of the environment, anduncontrolled growth of unused waste, despite many regulations, has a significant impact on thequality of life in cities. The aim of this article is to examine logistics in the practice of managingwaste flows in cities.
