Summary/Abstract: This essay is devoted to the analysis of Czech theatre reflections on the reality after the political transformation in the Middle-East Europe. The review of the chosen plays, written in the years 1994-2006, contains short theoretical investigations of the M. Bambusek's, L. Balak's and J. Topol's texts, fulfilled with the notes on D. Drabek's and M. Urban's works. There were some repeated motives to be observed in the analysed texts: waiting for the barbars, feeling of the epistemological and social chaos, neotribalism and the crisis of the inter-human communication (language). Useful category, derived from the American sociology, is 'backlash', the state after the explosion. This is the psychological (also in the sense of social psychology) state, that pushes to irrational and sometimes dangerous decisions, taken only to relieve the feeling of uncertainty and nostalgia . This state of 'backlash' is observed and artistically commented by the authors of the analysed plays.
