Summary/Abstract: The site of Mira, recently discovered by Zaporizhzhia (Middle Dnieper area, Central Ukraine) yields two Palaeolithic occupations and a layer of natural conflagration between them. Assemblage of the uppermost layer (I) provides industry combined MP and UP components, while the lowermost layer (II/2) represents the full UP industry. Both Palaeolithic occupations are dated to around 27-28 kyr BP. Importance of Mira cultural sequence calls the need of thorough examination of data allowing to evaluate the homogeneity of Palaeolithic occupations. This examination represents the main aim of this paper. Analysis of taphonomical aspects of geological, paleontological, and archaeological data allow to conclude the following. There is no signs of either mechanical fusion of I and II/1 materials or grounds to suspect palimpsest pattern in the case of layer I. Therefore, Mira layers I and II/1 represent separate and homogeneous short-term occupations, which remains provide a good example of well-preserved living floors.
